  • Thanks alot guys....its been on my mind all weekend, but you've helped raise my moral/confidence, and I really appreciate that. Thank you.

I think i've been thinking too hard about how to respond to them in the right manner that i've exhausted my brain. But I think I know the right way to approach it now :)

Gibs, getmore, Acc and Ruth...thank you

I once went to a site and a colleague there asked me to take a memo; I said no, I didn't think I could do that.

    (Everybody else laughed!)

Why have you been brought in?

where do you fit in the pecking order?

why can't others pick up the deputies work when off?

I think you need to know if there is anything being set up.

Don't you have a training plan, if not get one set up

Is there process documentation to back up what people do.

There are assistants to help me out...yet she comes to me for this?

Whats the chain of command on these 'assistants'? Are you above them in the chain and the deputies are above you?

If so could it be they would expect you to delegate the job if you want to rather than them bypassing and going straight to the assistants?
  • ty get more....certainly questions for me to bare in mind for my review.....bt im silly and fearing my line manager will tell me to just do what im asked :S, and in my mind if they said that...i wudnt know how to respond (fearful of being labled a non team player, difficult to manage etc)

i have only been in the office 2 days!!!

and evlim...no chance thats the case, im 'above' them in pay respect, but its not my responsibility to delegate tasks to them (not in this respect anyway).

It will be fine though, guess i just have to use my brain and try to (subtly) let them know im happy to help out but not there to be abused.

By nature, i have quite a quiet personality....and though ive gone in there feeling confident ...this type of situation has the tendency to (not sure how to put it) to make me look down on upon myself, and believe im inferior. But thanks for all your help and comments..i'm gonna stand up for myself and not hide away (or so i hope)
