HSBC Joint Account

A few years ago my self and a friend had a business idea, took out an over draft with HSBC in joint name, i had my own card etc...
The idea didnt work and we ended up losing money, we had about £1000 of overdraft that defaulted.
On my Credit Expert account, the account doesn't even show up. But it does on my friends. Im not sure exactly what happened? I dont really want to go into HSBC incase it gives me bad credit.
Since then ive paid him my half directly in cash for him to deal with, but im slightly concerned it is on my file somewhere and could be effecting my credit rating.
I dont suppose anyone could shed any light into whats gone on? Or whats the best thing to do?

First thing, well done for doing the right thing by giving him the 1/2 you owe but a word of caution (or 2):
Do you know that he's def used the money you gave him to put towards the debt and have you got something from him acknowledging that you have given him the money for this purpose?
Sounds like you're still good friends (which is great) but it has been known that this kind of thing happens and then the other party denies that they've received the money.Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

First are you sure friend is checking his experian report as well? Not his equifax or noddle reprt?
Does he appear in the financial.associates section of your report?
was the account address his home?
