Hi, I'm just curious to know what qualifications you need to become a mental health support worker. I've got 9 GCSE's grades A-C and 3 A-Levels but they weren't very good.

Most employers will want you to have at the very least:
*an understanding of mental health issues and or some experience (maybe you could volunteer with your local branch of MIND or similar) *excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
*good sense of humour
*a reasonable standard of physical fitness - this is particularly pertinent if you will be applying to an inpatients service as you will be need to undertake both breakaway training and prevention and management of violence and aggression training both of which are physically and mentally demanding.
*NVQ2 or 3, or a willingness to undertake them
You have far more qualifications that most of my untrained colleagues, so no worries there!
Any other questions just shout x0
