Just came across this post and we having the same sort of problem, we have no written contracts and we never get wage slips. I have been on the same wage for the last 9 years, always taking home the same, apart from when i have done any overtime.
At the end of the tax year when the tax code changes our wages never change, tax code is ok, i checked with the tax office. So instead of being better off after a tax code change our gross wages are actually going down. Can they actually reduce wages without informing us.0 -

I hope your grievance was based on breach of contract?' <-- See that? It's called an apostrophe. It does not mean "hey, look out, here comes an S".0 -

Just thought I would update you my grievance meeting went ahead on the 4th Sep and after 4 weeks the company informed me that they were not in the wrong and wouldn't be giving me my contracted rate of pay  then just to rub salt in the wound they stated that as a gesture of good faith and an apology the 3 months that I was overpaid they wouldn't claim back the money from me  Needless to say I appealed the decision straight away and have my appeal meeting next Wednesday

I also contacted a solicitor and they are looking at all the correspondence and will advise me further within the next few days but she said that I definitely have a case for an Employment Tribunal
I am going for:
1. Unlawful deduction of monies from my contracted pay, which is a breach of Section 13 of the Employment Rights Act 1996.
2. Arbitrary variation to written terms of employment contract, which constitutes a breach of employment contract
I just hope the company dont make me wait 4 weeks for a decision again

:j Another update
I had a phonecall in work today from the head of HR she said that they would reinstate my wages to the higher salary and also pay me all the backdated money owed :j So happy and amazed that they caved in before the appeal meeting which was taking place tomorrow. I will be able to sleep tonight now such a relief knowing I don't have to fight anymore :T
 Thanks everyone for all your answers and support it means a lot :beer:0 -
