Security We came from disabled parking for oversized vehicles, got up hill to entry gate and were told we had walked passed bag checks and that we had to go back (which was at the bottom of the hill). We walked back down with many other people that also had done the same thing. If you have more than mobile keys and wallet you have to go to the big tables otherwise they do it at the turnstile. In either case you have to get all your belongings out and they put them in a clear plastic bag [CPB] (girls don’t take anything you don’t want the world to see). Handbags emptied piece by piece and put into CPB then empty handbag put in CPB all little bags emptied all food bags emptied into CPB, luckily put my food in clear plastic bags so did not need them empted as staff could see inside bags. Clothes went in CPB – jumper, skirt (spare one as it was really hot so these were warm clothes for later). Bottles were checked to be empty. At the end the CPB had a green tag put around and pulled tight to make sure it was sealed. As you approach turnstile you queue and then get frisked. When you get in you may break the seal and put all your things back in your pockets and handbag and staff collect the bags and green tab. Lots of people were carrying all their stuff still in the bags not good for security and looked daft. We kept bag for recycling for next time. Some put rubbish in it at their seats, but a lady fell over one of these bags when everyone was leaving so take care.

Good posting listlady thnks. Anyone been to a London event through security? Is it the same? I'll be at security a long time if they want to take everything out of my overnight bag. Spending night before event in London accom before early morning event, so will have a rucksack full of toothbrush, tooth paste, dirty laundry lol !, underwear, food, tablets, hairbrush, etc etc. surely they're not going to take it all out and put it in cpb and check it all. When i fly from an airport in UK I just put my carry on bag in the tray and it goes through xray, when I go to premier football they just look in my rucksack and give it a feel and I dump my water bottle beforehand. info thoughts would be welcome thanks.0

at the test event they had x ray machines. I didn't have to empty out my bag. they just had told us to take out certain things, like you do at an airport, then put it through x ray. I'll let everyone know what it's like for Wimbeldon, I'm going Sunday0 -

Have you read your emails about what you can and cant take?
From memory there is no way you will be allowed to take all of the above in0 -
you can take a 25-litre size bag or rucksack - I'd imagine I could get all of Olympicspectator's stuff in my normal size handbag (which I'm taking to the games).0

Where have you seen that, I can only remember reading that i can take
In most cases you can bring one medium-sized soft-sided bag into venues – this should fit under your seat or in your lap
EDIT
Its ok i have found it now,
exclusion
More than one soft-sided bag of
25 litre capacity (you must be able
to fit your bag under your seat)
nothing over 100ml so may rule out the toothpaste!0 -
most toothpaste tubes are around 75ml size, its the family size tubes which are 125ml. I have a little travel size toothpaste that comes along with me on overnight stays.0

Thanks. Everything I'm takin is ok & not on prohibited list. It's one rucksack which will fit under seat. Its full of things u take 4 overnight & events eg camera, a top, toothbrush. Nothing over 100ml. I'm used to airport rules on this. All pared down to smallest size & minimum as its one overnight so it's a waterproof, a camera, underwear, cellphone, hairbrush, tickets money, food. Thnx 4 comment about toothpaste - I've got an end bit & will throw away on the morning. What do they think travellers and back packers are gonna do who can't pay for overnight accom in London but mite stay just outside for a nite - they've gotta bring stuff just like me. So i hope its not clear plastic bags for every item in my back pack like coventry apart from the one cpb of your liquids which I'm used to as per airports. Not sure what a 25litre bag is but my rucksack is a usual size not a huge one that I'd use if backpacking the world!0 -

Anyone who wants to know about Wimbledon security.
All I had to do was put my bag and coat on the tray, walk through the metal detector, had a quick search, a guy looked through my bag, and that was it! Simples. Didn't have to wait long either, I got there about 10:30ish.0 -
We went to the first Team Gb football match at Old Trafford. We more or less got pounced upon by someone waving plastic bin liners at us.
I wasn't exactly thrilled with having to put my purse in one of them and walk around, but it wasn't for long, so it worked out ok.
If any of you folks are going to any events, if possible, take the absolute bare minimum.BEST EVER WINS WON IN ORDER (so far) = Sony Camcorder, 32" lcd telly, micro ipod hifi, Ipod Nano, Playstation 3, Andrex Jackpup, Holiday to USA, nintendo wii, Liverpool vs Everton tickets, £250 Reward Your thirst, £500 Pepsi, p&o rotterdam trip, perfume hamper, Dr Who stamp set, steam cleaner.
comping = nowt more thrillin' than winnin':T :j0
