FoodIt says a small amount of food can be taken in to venues. We had two pasties, two rice puddings in individual pots, some crisps in a sandwich bag, sweets, mints, Minstrels (as they don't melt all over the place) and 2 bananas. All was Ok with security checks. Family of five had (in a plastic carrier bag) crisp packets, sweets, jam sandwiches - lots of stuff. They were buying drinks (expensive). All got put in clear bags as they come out of security. When we went through bag checks, all of our stuff was taken out of the cool bag, but we asked if we could put them back in the cool bag to keep the food cool and the first man said “No, they all have to go in separately”, then the next security guy along said “Yes, that’s fine, check then put it back in to the cool bag. The whole cool bag with contents then went into the security bag and tagged.

Interesting (?) selection of food at Coventry inside the venue:
Tea/ Coffee £2, water £1.60 - though staff at the catering concessions will fill empty water bottles - though I wasn't too chuffed to see them using the hand washing basin to fill paper cups which were then used to fill the water bottle.
Food - the only healthy option I could spy out was a small boxed salad for £3. The rest varies between £3ish for a pasty through to £6 for a curry or large (mmm.... their definition) fish and chips.
Like listlady above I had no problem taking food in - albeit I took everything that I would normally take foil wrapped in plastic wrap instead so the bag checking staff didn't have to prod and poke too much.0
