Another alternative that I've just thought of that you could use the balloon idea with really easily if you have the space is a paddling pool...
or if you dont have much space and need something deep then a clean plastic dustbin could also be an optionfrugal October...£41.82 of £40 food shopping spend for the 2 of us!

I know this thread is a few days old (sorry haven't been in the country). We had a spare fridge with chilled drinks in, and a table next to it with warm drinks on. I made a sign for the front of the fridge saying something along the lines of "please replace your cold drinks with a warm one from the table". As far as I know people did as they were told, and MrD didn't complain his beer was warm!

Cool boxes tend to be quite small - an ice-filled paddling pool is great and keeps people amused too haha!

Can someone not take a small fridge to the venue to keep the drinks in? All you need then is electricity

Hi all, thanks for all your great suggestions. I think the big builders tubs with ice is the best bet. It's only a 3 hour drinks reception, and it's in a room in a venue open to the public - so nowhere to put a chiller van, and taking a fridge in my little car along with everything else would be stressful (although I did look into that.) I will just have to ask someone to be in charge of getting some ice from Sainsbury's in the morning.0
