You won't know if there is a terminal bonus or not until maturity.
Unless you have unit linked endowments that don't have this benefit, but alternatively do offer the possibility of repaying the mge earlier, depending upon the underylying performance of the investment fund(s) selected.
Of course you must balance what the policies will cost you and their benefits, against the EMVs (which may differ from the sums received, as the projected sums are via prescribed industry rates, whilst the actual performance may be somewhat different i.e lower or higher !).
