Early Discharge, EDNOT, EDREV and timings

Hello All,
Just had written confirmation of early discharge, so I thought I would write this little piece up for fellow bankrupts, especially those like myself that wanted early discharge.
In my case:
BR: 20 January 2012
EDREV/IPOQ received by me: 14 June 2012 (dated: 12 June 2012)
EDREV/IPOQ submitted by me: 14 June 2012 (hand delivered to OR)
Letters to Creditors were sent by OR on the 14 June 2012
EDNOT sent from OR: 19 July 2012
EDNOT sealed by court: 23 July 2012 (Discharged!!)
eIIR database/website updated: 25 July 2012 (about 10AM)
EDNOT received by me: 26 July 2012 (2nd class post)
I spoke with the OR during this whole process, and confirmed when things were sent with them - I was uber-polite and they were more than happy to chat. They thought the process was 'humane'...
So I was bankrupt for 6 months and 3 days (186 days), and the early discharge process took 5 weeks and 3 days (38 days) - this is quicker than the 55 days quoted elsewhere on the forum.
The OR office have a computer based diary system apparently that tracks dates, so they tend to be accurate in their timings - so get your EDREV/IPOQ in as quickly as you can if your lucky enough to get one.
I also have no IPA/IPO as I went on JSA as soon as made bankrupt, and circumstances delayed the start of contract till now (perfect timing I know).
Now they bad bit - the Govt. have put out a consultation document recently that aims to eliminate the ED process to save a few million - despite the amount of money they p**s against the wall bombing sheppards and how much ED process means to some BR's.
Good luck all fellow BR's, especially those going stir crazy waiting for ED!

Nice way to play the system.
You more than likely got an early discharge because you were on JSA and probably had no assets(house to worry about).
A lot of br's on benefits get ED.
And for those going stir crazy having to wait a year wow, think what it was like when it was seven.
Early discharge for you means that you now go back to work, your debts have gone and you can start again, Remember why you went br the first time and don't let it happen again.
But remember your credit files still says BR even though you had an ED, credit will be hard to come etc.
Your only gain that you can now work without paying an IPA wow.
That is why EDs will go out because of posters on here bragging how they beat the system.0 -

To me you just come across as someone who is very bitter with their lot (which probably isn't a lot)
Obvioulsy his only gain is not having to pay into an IPA but not having to pay his debts back and be hounded by DCA's night and day.0 -
kepar - Bragging? Do you really think that? Really! I guess that's what happens when you try and be useful.
In fact, I lost everything (and I mean EVERYTHING): my business, my home (I have a wife & 3 kids!), everything I worked hard for 20 years to build - we ended up living in a HOSTEL and WALKING everywhere (I had to walk 10-15miles a day to carry shopping) and just about surviving.
I fought the corporation who made me bankrupt tooth & bleeding nail for over nine-months, I spent hours in court fighting the illogicality of it.
So, yes, I'm really happy to have ED and really happy to not have an IPA. But I didn't 'avoid' it.
The main aim of my post was to help others who would wish for ED.
As for 'lessons learnt'... I'm from the school of 'pick yourself up, dust yourself down, get back on the horse.'0 -
Good news Kation! Congrats!0

thanks Chunx!
rossireps - Sorry you didn't. I wasn't expecting one and had tried to strike it from my mind after awhile as it was driving me potty thinking about the will I / won't I, until the EDREV/IPOQ landed - then I went nuts counting the hours.
What mattered I felt was the 'tone' from my OR office, they seemed quite keen on treating BR's in a 'humane' way and where very helpful and polite, and spared me as much time as I needed when I asked questions.
So I suspect that the attitude of the 'team-leader' in each OR's office is probably as good a predictor of the likelihood of early discharge as anything else.0
