CV writting services? Anyone used? Opinions please?

I think (know) my CV needs an overhaul. Previously I've done this myself and had no issues in gaining interviews, and indeed jobs.

I know the job market is harder than previously etc but in the past 8 weeks I have applied for over 50 roles that I am more than capable of doing, have experience of the role and sector etc and only had one response! (which turned out to be a role I couldn't do as "occasional over night stays" was actually 3 a week!)

I've always worked in field sales do realise my CV needs to "sell" me probably more so due to the nature of the roles I'm applying for

It's got to be my cv, obviously! I've tried re vamping it myself, not worked!

So, I'm considering paying someone to re write it for me - maybe sheer desperation, I don't know!

I've looked at websites for tips, hints, layouts etc and cannot see where my CV is failing massively.

So, has anyone paid a company in the past to re-do their CV and did it get you interviews?
TIA

Anna

  • Cv's can be a nightmare! You can read it over and over again and just don't know where you are going wrong.

However it is more than likely that it is not the CV, or in fact you that is the problem - some companies are just terrible at getting back to candidates, and who'd want to work somewhere like that ;)

Sometimes it is good to get someone else just to glance a second pair of eyes over it - whether they know anything about the job you are seeking or not? This would be preferable to having you pay for some CV advice.

I have always done mine myself, and it is so hard to get any responses sometimes, but persevere, and your hard work will pay off eventually!

The right job will be out there :)
