Non rechargeable batteries

Just got a digital camera off Freecycle :j and taken the old, knackered batteries out. I've replaced them with rechargables, but what should I do with the old batteries?

Can't just chuck 'em out, can I:confused:

Cheers all

There should be a battery recycling point at your local council amenities site so that you can dispose of these safely. It's usually full of car batteries, but you can leave your household ones there too :)
