Bored & Going Nowhere

I've been in my current job for two years, for the first year I enjoyed it but now the novelty has worn off and I'm bored. I don't in anyway find it challenging anymore.
My company is a national company with about eight sites across England. We are currently building a new warehouse close to me that will be opening early next year, it will create in the region of 2500 jobs. I have already registered my interest in other areas of the company based within the warehouse.
I have a pension, 25-28 days holiday and I've bought shares in the company. The only thing that makes me want to stay though and gives me a ray of hope at a more challenging job is the fact that I might be able to move into another area of the company next year.
I keep an eye on the open jobs market but I don't really know what I want to do. I got a HND in 2001 that I've never used. What worries me is that I may not get a new opportunity once the new warehouse opens.

I just wanted people's opinions. Do you think I'm better off staying where I am until I can apply for a new position (there is quite a few that I like the sound of) or should I try and leave now and stop clinging onto the hope of a new job within the company?
The thought of continuing until maybe mid next year is quite demoralising. I know I'm very lucky to have a job and I appreciate that, I would just also like a job that mentally challenges me etc.

    That's a difficult one.

If the company you work for is a good organisation and it's just your current role that you are bored with, I would hang fire as you have only been there for 2 years and by the time that the new warehouse opens in the New Year you will have another 6 months or so worth of experience when applying for the new positions.

If it's the organisation that you are bored of and you don't see that there is much potential of progress, then I would start looking for a new job.

I'm in the situation that I would like to change job after 7.5 years and have started looking for a new job. However, I do think that most people get bored in their jobs, however like most of us we stay in the job because of necessity :).
