Default dropping off

Hey All

I have a default on my credit file wich started on the 1st of december 2006, i am currently paying the debt collector each month, my question is that when this default drops off will i still be able to make a payment each month to the debt collector

    Yes - it will drop off after 6years.

    If not fully paid by that point you carry on paying as usual.

    is there anyway that the debt collectors can put this default back on my credit file if for some reason i cannot keep paying them after the six years is up

    Only by taking you to court for the debt and getting a CCJ.

    Thanks for you help

    I did phone the debt collections company tonight and offered to pay them 43% of the outstandeing debt which they were happy to take, but they said if i done this they would mark the default as settled in full, i thought that it would be removed completly from the file, as i only have six months untill it is removed i will keep paying it mobthly for now

    They would remove the past defaults because it is settled.

    The debt will be statutory barred this December won't it?

    Defaults are not removed when the debt is settled - they are just marked as satisfied defaults.

    It won't become statute barred as it states in the post he has been paying it every month.
