pension

My father used to work for a council for over 15 years and paid into a pension. When he died my mother never received his work pension. She is still alive and now wants to find out why. Can anyone tell me as it is 32 years ago can we still persue it

    I think the answer will be 'it depends' (on the conditions of the particular pension scheme), but the answers to the following may have a bearing on whether she should have been entitled to anything.

    Was your father already claiming the pension when he died ?
    Was your father actually working for the council when he died ?

    What do you have to lose by getting in touch with the council and asking - it's got to be worth a try !
