Worst driving I've ever seen....

On a main dual carriageway. Car in the outside lane doing just over 50mph. Nothing for about half a mile on the inside. No problems ahead on the inside - in fact the lorries were slowly getting further away from this car.
Queued up behind several others behind the car in question. In the end, they all undertook. Several (including myself I must confess) flashed the car first to try and make them pull-in.
I ended up undertaking too and there was a woman driving, hunched forward over the wheel, gripping it for dear life and staring like somone posessed at the road in front. No wonder she hadn't seen all the flashing in her mirrors.
What made this worse though was that there was a bloke in the passenger seat and kids in the back. Now, as the passenger, would you not suggest that the driver pull over?!

Which was the "worst ever seen" bit? The car sitting at 50 in the r/h lane or the people undertaking someone who clearly had no awareness of what was going on round her and could have easily moved across without warning or looking?0

I'm afraid that this sort of thing happens all the time.
I'd like to nominate the articulated lorry driver on the M25 yesterday morning, who, as I overtook him, signalled and started to also overtake the lorry in front of him, forcing me to accellerate out of his way (and break the speed limit, but I claim "duress of circumstance", as I couldn't move over into the right hand lane, because of other vehicles). The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.0 -
The former.
At the speed she was doing, undertaking took a few seconds. Don't know about the other drivers but I was watching her, covering the horn, and it was a section with a hard shoulder that I could have swerved into had the need arose.
Know I'll get some abuse for the move but I don't know many people who would have just sat behind her for their whole journey. When I was directly behind her I followed her for about a mile before undertaking. Prior to that, I'd been in the queue behind her for 5-10 minutes.0 -

Oh come on Joe would you stay behind them? You can normally spot these drivers a mile off and I just get into the inside lane and cruise along until I pass them.0 -

No, it was a slightly tongue-in-cheek post, although a valid risk to be aware of if you choose to make that move
Anyway, from her reply, Teapot did it sensibly but I bet at least some of the others just booted it and went without thinking!0 -
Should have tailgated her until she adjusted her driving in such a way it suited you.
LOL!0 -
Undertake, pull back out, drive at 25mph would be interesting to see what happened then.
Im not on about slamming breaks on or cutting up!0 -

Why thank you.
Hate undertaking. Only done it a handful of times as a last resort. To Gordon Hose - I've got absolutely no problem with someone doing 50mph on a dual carriageway if they're in the correct lane. I wouldn't want this lady to have sped up to a speed she was uncomfortable with just to suit me. But she absolutely should not have been in the outside lane and I still have no idea why the bloke in the car didn't say anything.0 -
We had one like this a few months back...
I'll ask the awkward question...pinkteapot wrote: »When I was directly behind her I followed her for about a mile before undertaking. Prior to that, I'd been in the queue behind her for 5-10 minutes.I need to think of something new here...0 -
If this is the worst driving you've seen then you clearly don't drive that much!0
