Isis - The hardest puzzle in history

After seein Dragons Den the other night my OH wouldn't stop going on about how much he wanted an Isis puzzle ball. So after checking about on the net, I think the cheapest I can find it is at alibarter.com. It's a bizare site where you can haggle for things. On firebox the Isis is £99. On alibarter it starts at £89. I haggled it down to £84, have a go, it's quite fun!

Ok, so I know £84 for a puzzle he won't be able to solve isn't very moneysaving, but it'll make him happy.

  • I did not understand one part of the logic behind this puzzle -
It is the 'worlds hardest puzzle'. Once you solve it there is a key inside to open up a box with a £500 cash prize. The map for this is obtained from ther website, and the location of the prize box changes when the money has been claimed.

What is to stop you from smashing the thing up, taking the key and opening the box for the cash prize without actually solving the puzzle?
They say you can't put a value on life... but I live it at half price!

Yeah that's exactly what I was thinking at the time unless you have to prove in some way you haven't used brute force to get the key.

They said that if you use brute force it destroys the key somehow.

    The site says:
Sadly you can forget about cheating via sledgehammers and power saws; any damage to the Isis will destroy its secret forever!!!

I wonder if that is really the case or they are trying to deter that approach anyway.

i think it could be like the holy grail (like on da vinci) where if its forced there could be a leak and the key would be lost for ever,

on a more real note- the puzzle may be constructed in such a way that it cant be broken into.
