Alliance & Leicester Cashback Conundrum!

We have taken out a new mortgage with the A & I for our new house which we move into in May. The deal was a 5 year fixed rate with £250 cashback and an extra £250 cashback as we are existing customers.

On the homepage it has details of this https://www.alliance-leicester.co.uk/mortgages/index.asp?page=home&ct=flashsecondarymortgagecashback

The way I read it is that we should be entitled to £500 cashback PLUS the additional £250 that they are advertising. However, when we went to see the mortgage advisor she was adamant that was not the case and refused to even check up with head office about it. To be eligable for the deal you have to fill in the voucher and hand it over to her at your appointment, of course, she wasn't able to take it as she believed that we were not eligable. Can you kind people perhaps take a second to look at this and tell me what you think.

This is the link for the actual mortgage deal we are going for https://www.alliance-leicester.co.uk/mortgages/index.asp?page=feesaver-5year-fixed&ct=fixedrates
Thanks

I can't see anything that says the deals are exclusive.
Have you tried calling A&L to see what they say?

I agree with you that so long as the case progresses via a branch - with an appt made vai the tel number/ quoting ref you should get the £250 on top of the £500 ( so long as existing borrower) for that product- if thats what they recommend

I'm fairly certain that the £250 voucher offer is just another method of presenting the same £250 existing customer deal and therefore that you can't get both, but the wording doesn't make that exactly clear.

I am going into the A&L branch tomorrow relating to my remortgage application so I'll discuss it with them.

MarkyMarkD- The wording of the offer is open to misinterpratation that's for sure.

I don't want to kick up a fuss about this until I have the offer papers here, they should have arrived this week but got the old computer problems routine so will query it after then. Still get at least £650 back inc valuation so thats not too bad.

The way I read it is that its an additonal £250 for using branch rather than A&L paying a broker for the biz ( BTW they they curently paying most brokers an eXtra £150 on top of normal commission - so this sort of makes sense if paying extra for 1 route they pay extra for another )

Hi, I applied through my local branch of A&L, gave them the £250 voucher, which said that the cashback was in addition to any other offers. My mortgage completed and now they won't give me the extra £250 for being a premier plus customer. I just wondered if anyone had any joy in getting the extra £250 cashback, which was how I read the offer to be. Thanks.
