Thanks again everyone, am so amazed at the helpful support I am receiving on here - its badly needed especially in these circumstances as I havent told many people I am doing it.
So am finally going bankrupt in the morning - am nervous but have another question, does anybody know how long I am likely to be at the court for? I only ask because have been given a job interview today for tomorrow afternoon & need to be in London at 1.15pm but my appointment is 10am at the court which would mean I'd have to be on the train out of that area by 11.50 to be on time - do you think this is possible? I am worried that the court are going to delay things & I may be asked to come back later if the judge is busy?
I may have no option but to delay the interview if I am having to wait around :-( Typical it all happens the same day!Living the dream

The hearing will not take long, so it's more a matter of when they get to you.
That will depend on the amount of other cases that need to be dealt with.
Your best bet for a swift departure is to turn up early and make it known you are ready to be dealt with.
The judge will want to get through as much work as possible, so if, when he rolls in, the clerk can say: "The short case of Finally is ready to go," it will improve your chances of getting on sooner.0 -

Agreed, but also tell them about your job interview and that you need to leave in time. A polite little please may work wonders.
You may however be expected to talk to the OR immediately after Judge agrees to BR. So again explain to OR need to be off and ask if you can arrange to discuss matters first thing on Monday.
My experience, they will all be helpful. Just let them know.0 -
Hi, just going back to your question about bank accounts, I opened an account at Barclays straight after my BR hearing end of 2011, it is what it says on the tin 'basic' no internet banking or telephone banking facility and my local bank is not open on Saturdays so I can not get into the branch for banking so I have recently enquired and opened the CoOp Cashminder account which I do get internet banking with so now I can keep a closer eye on my finances which is important as a BRt to ensure bad things dont happen again!
Good luck today!
PS: I have found the experience really quite pleasant, OR and team all fair and friendly. I didnt see the judge and was in and out of the court within half an hour.0 -
Hi,
Does anyone know of a link to an 'up to date' IPA calculator?
I came accross one elsewhere on here but it was based on 07-09 figs/calculations?
I was trying to work out how the OR has reached my IPA amount out of my disposable income and also if there is anything on here or elsewhere which tells you what amounts they allow for different types of household expenses and other expenditure which is allowed!
Any advise appreciated0 -

Wishing you well for today. I hope it all goes smoothly for you. Good luck for your job interview, think of it all as the start of a new life and a new you!

Thanks everybody who has wished me well and supported me! I am officially bankrupt and have had such a wide range of emotions today - one of the strongest being sadness and feeling very very tired/mentally exhausted.
I got to the court at 9.45am and was sent to the room to hand my paperwork in after about 5 mins by the usher (who was lovely) and waited in there for around 20mins (felt more like 20 years as I was nervous & ashamed as think it all just hit me then). Anyway the clerk took my paperwork, checked through it all with me there and told me what was going to happen next with the Judge. I went back out to wait to be called and about an hour later the Judge saw me and it was 30 seconds in and out! (and in his chambers, which is basically just a big office) He asked had I got advice about doing this and I said yes, he asked who from? And I told him around 3/4 companies including the CCCS. He then said 'in light of the amount of your debt, I am making you bankrupt on 27 july at...blah blah blah....' then that was it - I said 'thank you.... I think' and he smiled and said you're welcome. And that was it!
Then I sat outside in the waiting room for my completed paperwork and I had mentioned that I had an interview so I think they hurried things along for me and especially when I got a bit upset in front of the clerk - they were all very nice and the clerk had even told the OR that I would like to reschedule the meeting if possible and they seemed ok with it. Then I walked down to the OR's office (2 mins away) and spoke to my OR who was very helpful and friendly and she said she would put an appointment confirmation in the post anyway and would be in touch if she needed anything else so I could hurry along to my interview.
I had got upset with the clerk & had let slip that I lived with my landlord (I really didnt want her mentioned in it) but she said its best just to put it down. Then she said that she was sure the OR wouldnt contact my landlord/housemate and that she would just need a copy of a tenancy agreement (which I dont have as she is my friend) but the OR was great and said she would make a note not to contact my landlord (aka my friend) as long as I got a tenancy agreement stating how much I pay and what sort of agreement it is. So fingers crossed that should all be ok. Does anybody have any suggestion about what I could say I need the tenancy agreement for to my friend/housemate? As I really dont want to tell her I have gone bankrupt but need a reason as to why I need a copy of an agreement.
Then I went off to my job interview - which went well but have yet to hear back! I am shattered now as left the house at 7.45am this morning and didnt get in until 5pm after all my running about with no break or proper food (just a tuna sandwich around 1pm all day!), am now enjoying a well earned glass of wine after my dinner and will be sitting in to watch the Olympics Opening Ceremony tonight and to pat myself on the back as even though I'm not proud at all about being made bankrupt - at least now I have FINALLY taken control and sorted things out once and for all.
I just hope the OR is ok and I am lucky enough not to get an IPO and/or to potentially get early discharge? Will the IPO be put in place once she has looked through all my papers and has everything she needs?
Thanks again everybody - you have been such a great comfort to me
