Why don't you have caterers cater for everyone else who's coming, but you just provide yourself with something you've made at home yourself?
    Would that not work?

I did think about that but not sure how the caterers would feel about my turning up with a prepared meal. Worth asking though, thanks :)

nuatha... can I hire you!? it is looking more doable though. Although as you say, you may have more time due to being the groom but then I only have to put on a dress and slap some make up on.. how hard can that be? :rotfl:

I'm sure if you explain the reason behind why you want to do it, there would be no complaints!

Unfortunately I'm about 250 miles away.
If you are getting married after June 2013, I'll happily share recipes, timetables etc (if earlier then it will provisional and planned timetables)

    I don't know.
My lady is planning 2 and a half days, though how much of that is actually putting the dress and makeup on she's not admitting :rotfl:

Actually I think she's just planning on avoiding me in case she gets asked to do dishes :)

dub have you thought of getting some students to help if you dont want all that hassle

my SIL2B is a catering student at the college and i know she would be more than happy to do something like this they could also free you up on the day replenishing things so you dont have to worry about it

if it sounds like something you are interested in give me a PM x

Where is your reception as you may find that lots of places do not allow outside caterers in? That was certainly what we found in MK, or they wanted to charge for bringing in outsiders.

If at a venue, could you not speak with the chefs?

I'd just organise a totally separate meal for you, that you bring yourself. Or the chef prepares himself from scratch. that must be fairly common at weddings, that someone in the main party has something a bit different (ie a veggie option which no one else does)
  • UPDATE: Hooray! We finally settled on a venue and guess what! It's a boarding school and they have their own caterers who don't allow any nut products onsite because of the children's allergies! *jumps for joy* this is the biggest load off my mind!
Thank you to everyone who came and discussed things with me :)
