Sony Noise Cancelling Headphones...avoid

I had to travel 25 miles to find an argos with these in stock, but as it seemed a great deal I did it:

Firstly, it doesnt tell you that the headphones themselves require a battery, which is no huge issue but when you have an ipod on for 12 hours a day like me you will get through batteries incredibly quickly. It also doesnt show the huge seperate control box for them which I hadnt realised they had.
I got them home and tried them...truly awful. My old ipod headphones sounded better and they have been dying a death for months. Any music with a hint of bass in it distorts so badly you have to turn the sound right down to a minimal. I spent an hour playing with my ipods EQ settings and just couldnt improve the sound at all.
Now, it maybe that they were just a faulty pair, but I didnt have the option of replacing them because as I said, they are out of stock everywhere near me. In the end I exchanged them for genuine ipod earphones and the difference was immense. Even the guy who tried them at customer services noted how poor they were.
Anyone had any better luck with these?

They get quite good reviews.. shame i can't find an Argos in london with them in stock0 -
They do look to be the same yes ringo. As I said, it could have been that I was just unlucky and got a faulty set. I think a lot also depends on how loud you like to listen. I tend to listen to Metallica at full whack. Ipod earphones can support that, those didnt come close
