house is only market for over a year without any luck. Also, ex living in that house with and wont leave. Already discussed with solicitors but except losing more money, nothing was ahieved.
Letter/email correspondance with the mortgagelender didnt achieve anything either.
I hope mortgage lender will consider filing backruptcy against him - since he tried explaining at length and kept on paying for all these months without living in the property.
It was obvious months ago that he cant continue to pay forever or stays in this status quo, so all the money he paid - is wasted.
Same applies to personal loan, as there are still 10k outstanding, may be he can pay say another 1000 or a bit more, but doesnt matter it will affect him as severely as if he stops now.
On the basis of what you wrote that Bankruptcy will affect him for the rest of his life, is very serious as he has good education and better career ahead, and its just unfortunate that he married to the wrong person.
Since he is overseas. He might now even find out about backruptcy.
I really feel for him and not sure what else can be done to save him or atleast minimise the damage.
Is staying overseas the best option, or still there may be some consequences?
He has already discuused at length with the mortgage lender, Is there something you may suggest that he discuss for personal loan with the lender?0 -
Get him to contact a debt advice charity - he'll be able to explain his full situation, they'll be able to advise him on options and consequences specific to him without the information being relayed third hand.
You asking for advice on his behalf on a forum is not the best way for him to get the best advice.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0
