Credit check database

A while back I applied for a mortgage on a self certified basis unfortunately it was refused due to the fact that I could not back up the income declared. Now the lender has apparently put a negative note against my name in their database, at the moment I have an excellent credit file and done CIFA and used credit experian and powercheck agencies which have confirmed that I do not have any negative notes against my name but apparently the banks can see a negative note against my name. I have tried asking the lender to explain me the negative note but they say to check against my credit report and CIFA which I have already done as explained above.
Could anyone shed some light what can I do to find out what the lender has put against my name in the lender database?
Many thanks
