I have been cleaning up my credit file on Experian. Looks quit good now. However when I went to register for the Electoral roll the application form says this
News Update
Due to the Police and Crime Commissioner elections on 15th November 2012, the Annual Canvass has been brought forward for this year to take effect from July 2012 to October 2012. This means that anyone registering after 8th June 2012 will not be added to the register until it is re-published on 16th October 2012. Monthly updates will re-commence in November and December, 2012 (see table below).
I have just moved house and have to start from scratch, would like a tiny bit of credit to help through the first couple of months. Does this mean I have to wait till the 16th of October to be added? How important is it being on the Electoral register?

Don't know if it helps but I am not on the electoral roll according to the CR agencies either, I am trying to rectify it but it is down to an address formatting error. Once your other reporting accounts start to show the new address it goes some way to proving your residence.
You could always add a notice of correction explaining above? Don't know if the combination of that plus your mobile bill & bank account etc would help?
It is quite important long term though...Budgeting CC balance £0
MBNA 0% [STRIKE]£1312.50[/STRIKE] £1212.50 1/12
Nationwide Loan [strike]£19000[/strike] now £10114 27/51 £193.46 Overpaid
Barclaycard 0% b.t. [STRIKE]£8966[/STRIKE] now £7928 4/30
Hitachi capital - [STRIKE]£899[/STRIKE] 05/2013 Uncle - [STRIKE]£1145[/STRIKE] 03/2013 /Dad - [STRIKE]£3k[/STRIKE] 12/2012
was £28,738 - now £19254 33% of the way there:j0 -
Electoral roll helps but is not neccesary for credit. I got accepted for over £10k of credit without being on electoral roll at the address I applied at. (was a longterm student moving every 6 months so kept all of my credit agreements at parents to save hassle when moving but as wasnt living there couldnt be on electoral roll there).
If your credit file is good (experian score is meaningless) then you will be able to get credit without electoral roll. Though it will mean you get turned down for some things you would have got if you were on it.
Just try applying for what you want, its all you can do.0 -
We just moved into a new place and although I had read exactly the same thing, we got an electoral roll form through the post a week or so later and have sent it off. I assume they will update our details with it and not file it somewhere until 16th October!Savings target: £25000/£25000
