Hi,
Just wondering if anyone could help!
DH started a new job about 8 weeks ago now and has been off 3 times, once when our 6 month old was in hospital, and two illnesses, one of which started when he was at work and got sent home (he works in a kitchen so is legally not allowed to work when ill)
He has been off the last 3 days I'll and last night got a text from his employer saying he was sacked - he was a great worker and good at this job but they needed someone to rely on as they are a small business.
Can they use this for a reason for sacking him?

Having 8 weeks employment they don't need a reason to sack him for the first two years. But yes, three periods of absence in 8 weeks isn't likley to go down well with any employer, so it's a fair enough reason.0

Seems fair enough.Thinking critically since 1996....0

The text is bad form but your husband has very much brought this upon himself.0

8 weeks into a new job and 3 absences?
Whilst I dont think the text is good karma, he brought it on himself!
Yes "they can do this". In the first year they can sack him for any reason (or not give one) as longs as its not down to a discriminatory reason (which this isn't).
D70How about no longer being masochistic?
How about remembering your divinity?
How about unabashedly bawling your eyes out?
How about not equating death with stopping?0 -

They do what they want anyway these days..
But to say he brought it on himself is a bit out of order,, he cant help it if he is Ill can he??
And if someone hasnt got the balls to ring him and tell him he is sacked, instead of texting him isnt worth working for anyway.0
