Hello
We have been together 3.5 years have been thinking where to pop the question and it's difficult because I want it to be special.
We are going down to Staffordshire area in early Oct and wondered if there is anywhere in this area which would be a really nice location?

I wouldn't recommend Walsall Arboretum lol
If you are going to Alton Towers then the gardens in the valley bit are really pretty...there are some water features and folly type buildings which would make a lovely background.
I really like the Shugburough estate..again there are some really nice bits of garden and the house is beautiful. http://www.shugborough.org.uk/Homepage.aspx
If you're after something a bit quirky/memorable then the monkey forest is also a good day out and could make for interesting surroundings http://www.trentham-monkey-forest.com/information.php?id_cat=1
It's over the county boundary into Shropshire, but the Severn Valley Railway is good too...some of the carriages you can ride in are really impressive and the views are stunning.
Good luck with it all, wherever you choose!Common sense?...There's nothing common about sense!0 -
Thanks for the replies and sorry i haven't responded sooner im just looking into some of the suggestions now.
Yes it's near Alton Towers that we are staying and we will have a car so anywhere within 20-30 miles i guess is ok.
Can anyone tell me more about gardens by Alton Towers? I haven't heard of these before, is there a website or photos i could search?0 -
May I suggest a padded cell lol0

Congratulations!
The gardens at Alton Towers are lovely, very secluded. http://www.altontowers.com/rides-and-attractions/attractions/the-gardens/
When I took my little girl there last year she spent ages pretending to be a princess!
You can forget that you are actually at Alton Towers the gardens.
Good Luck

There are a few lovely places nearby to Alton Towers.
Croxden Abbey is about 2 miles away and the countryside is beautiful http://www.english-heritage.org.uk/daysout/properties/croxden-abbey/
You have also got Dovedale, which is a lovely and picturesque.
Chatsworth House is also close by http://www.chatsworth.org/visiting/attractions
Personally I would love to be proposed to at Alton Towers I find away from the beaten track in the gardens or the actual towers it feels magical.

Even though it's a little down looking, the stafford castle is a lovely place, and has views of....everywhere.0

Do consider though, if you're going to Alton Towers, firstly, you be very sure the ring is safe - people lose all sorts of things on the rides - http://www.iangallacher.com/news/2008/10/diamond-ring-lost-on-rollercoaster/
Secondly, people will ask her how and where you proposed etc, do you want her to answer Alton Towers (however lovely the gardens may be)?0
