Oysters were much cheaper in Victorian times due to the vast quantities sold.

Yeah, and what did the Victorians have to pay for their tellys?

It must have been a lot, because none of them bought one.

Electrical goods. I bought a TV in the 70's which cost half a years wages and took five years to pay off. Six months ago I bought one, a million times better, and paid cash out of the overtime I had done that month.

But your 1970s telly lasted how long?

(Okay it might not have lasted very long at all actually, especially if it was made in Britain)
A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.

It was still in perfect working order when we up graded to a newer model.

You weren't around in the 70's, were you.

In those days British TV's were built to last a life time, and they usually did. Although once in a while you had to send for the TV Repairman to come and fix them.
