What a ride! I never thought I'd see a British winner of the Tour de France.
All that remains is a glass of champagne on the way into Paris and hopefully a third stage victory for Mark Cavendish, the Manx Missile.

Credit must go to Dave Brailsford who had the vision of how to change UK cycling.
Wiggins performance is an accumulation of years of work behind the scenes.0 -

I used to live in Belgium (the country) and get a bit annoyed when the nationals are described as 'Belgiums'. They are 'Belgians'.
Anyway, he has British nationality, not Belgian. We used to say that you took your father's nationality (his mother is English, his father was Australian).
Nevertheless, he's one of us, and I'm very proud for one. Best of luck to him and to Froome for tomorrow (who incidentally was also not born in Britain: Kenyan and grew up in South Africa, but who has a British passport and British father and Grandparents). And good luck for Mark Cavendish to win the final stage.0 -

British nationality, born to an English mother and an Aussie father (also a professional cyclist) in, as you say, Ghent - but moved to London at the age of two when his parents split up.
Either way it looks like he'll be the first Brit to take the TdF win - and to cap it all we've never had a Brit on the podium in something like 94 races but it looks like we'll have two up there tomorrow with Chris Froome in a good position to take second place.0 -
Pretty sure if you asked wiggins what nationality he is he wouldn't tell you he was Belgian (or Australian), but you can keep saying he is if you want!0
-
Well, the Beeb seem to know his nationality, he's a "Londoner". I'm sure if he lived anywhere else in England, he'd be an Englishman. If he were Scottish or Welsh, then he's British.30 Year Challenge : To be 30 years older. Equity : Don't know, don't care much. Savings : That's asking for ridicule.0
