Hi all, I need some help/info. We are going to the Belmore Motel at the end of the week for 2 days break. We have been often to Enniskillen so have been to all the main tourist sites apart from Enniskillen Castle. Does anyone have any tips on getting the best out of our castle visit?
On the second day we were thinking of going to the Tayto Factory Tour in Tangradee and again any tips etc on this as well.
The only place in Armagh we have been to is the planetarium. What other places around Armagh are worth seeing.
Its the wife our 12 yr old son and old silver haired me :-)

We have been to the same motel with the kids and dead handy as the big Tesco is opposite for late night snacks! Did not bother with the castle as it is not as big as some we have been to and enjoyed just walking around the outside boundary walls instead.
Tayto is a good trip and you get loads of samples to eat and a free 6pk at the end of the tour.
Went to a place called 'thejungleni' where they do zorbing etc. We did the rope course part whilst the rest of family watched from below. Took us approc 3 hrs and definately gets the old heart racing but fab fun. If your kid is interested in that sort of thing then go there. Discovered muscles in places i did not know I had today!
We are also 'doing NI' this summer and having fun days out. Done Londonderry/Derry, Glenarm celtic games, karting. Did the north coast last year and kids of various ages had no complaints. Probably doing Armoy horse riding again this year as that was a nice afternoon out.
You should have a look at a site called groupon as your smaller family group may benefit from the deals there such as hotel stays.
Forgot to say that we did the Belfast tour on a yellow boat/car thing and that was fun...maybe something different to do, if you have not done already!:beer:0 -
Here's a link to the Tayto tour thingy, in case you hadn't see it before. You have to book Tayto
Around Armagh there is the Navan Centre, only a few miles out the road. Maybe that would float your boat? The link will lead you to other bits and pieces around Armagh.0 -
As said above you have to prebook for Tayto. It's a good trip and the kids liked it. It wouldn't be suitable for very young children in my opinion as it's very noisy and they may be a bit much for them. Likewise it's not really suitable for people with mobility problems, up and down stairs, walking around a working factory with machinery etc. I don't remember seeing any lifts for disabled visitors but i could be wrong.
You get a free 6 pack of crisps after the tour (well free in that they are included in your entry fee..), little quiz for the children too and you have to remove all jewellery / phones / personal items and don the hairnet and aprons supplied! They do have a locker to put handbags etc in but if you had any very valuable jewellery I would leave it at home.0 -
hi all do you know there is a tayto park in the ROI ,about 10 miles from Swords about 12euro each ,we had a great time about 2 weeks ago there, more like a zoo and large play ground0

Enniskillen castle has a sort of art gallery on the bootom flor, then a military museum and then a sort of natual history section from what I remember of our visit abt 2 years ago. It was good, but not much to it.
Marble Arch caves or Castle Coole would beat it imo.
Share Centre in Lisnaskea is good if you are looking for activities.
That Tayto park is meant to be good, someone in work went, but it is a different tayto company not the same as the NI one. Look at the diff in Mr Tayto, apparently they both claim they had the name first and trade under a diff name in ROI/NI.0 -
Enniskillen castle has increased the admittance charge, you may not think it good value...... On Saturday morning 10am to 2pm there is a farmers market out the Old Tempo Rd,will take you 5 minutes to get there from motel, they sell veg, buns, chocolate and beef as well as poultry etc easy parking. What about hiring a boat for half a day from the manor house, take a picnic and see Fermanagh from the water.0

I'm back.....The tatyo tour was fully booked so a bit disappointed but will do again. Went to the castle.......£7 for 2 x adults + 1 x12 yr old with voucher. Smallish but very good and really worth the money. Belmore Court was great as usual.
Thanks for all the info and advice..........“Having, first, gained all you can, and, secondly saved all you can, then give all you can"....John Wesley
