When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym. :T

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important!
:money:

Good morning everyone!! Early start today as I have a Grandma Day and need to be at DD's house before 7am. My MSE weekend has started already so thought I'd get the thread going too.

So far:
  • breakfast from stores
  • checked banking
  • checked for surveys
  • got WM going on Economy 7
  • fed and watered the chickens
I will also:
  • have a double Grandma day - DGD and DGS this weekend
  • go to Mr T's with small list and stick to it
  • lunch at DD's house using her supplies ;)
  • clean out chickens in exchange for eggies
  • keep an eye on survyes
  • quiet night in with DS2 with the Scrabble board - cheaper than the pub!
There must be LOADS more I've forgotten, but it is a bit early to think :D

I'll catch up later when I'm more awake,

Good morning everyone, It’s a lovely sunny day here today but I have a flooded kitchen dh is busy sorting it as I type, therefore a change of plans for today was meant to be getting hair and nails done and doing a frozen food shop but not now.
Stitchy – Thanks for starting us off this morning

    Revised list for today:
    1. [STRIKE]Quick shower[/STRIKE]
    2. [STRIKE]Cancel hair and nail appointment[/STRIKE]
    3. [STRIKE]Breakfast and dinner from stores[/STRIKE]
    4. [STRIKE]Family lunch out [/STRIKE]– not mse but have set a spend limit Had a good meal and £10 under budget and all 4 of us don't need dinner either saving money on that.
    5. [STRIKE] Wash up dishes and tidy the kitchen[/STRIKE]
    6. [STRIKE]Catch up with emails[/STRIKE]
    7. [STRIKE]Update tester paperwork[/STRIKE]
    8. [STRIKE]Surveys and One Poll[/STRIKE]
    9. [STRIKE]Do some work on web reviews[/STRIKE]
    10. Sort through Mr T shopping when it arrives – scan and put away
    11. Declutter dd’s bedroom
    12. [STRIKE]Get a new ironing board [/STRIKE]– not mse but badly needing done and dm gave me money towards it and will get it whislt out for lunch therefore not using extra fuel.
    13. [STRIKE]Decide whether to get a carpet sweeper [/STRIKE]as it will save on electric rather than hoovering every day Decided to get one as found a cheap one and it will save a lot on electric I also decided to get a new duvet as found a cheap one and my old one has seen the best (9 years old, I believe that is old for a duvet)
    14. Sort catalogue returns
    15. [STRIKE]Check and water plants[/STRIKE]
    16. Check freebies thread
    17. [STRIKE]Get dh to have a look at the washing machine[/STRIKE] – hopefully will not need to get a new one but most be some reason why its flooded the kitchen Had to order a new wm as the other one has had it so not a very mse day today but ordered through cashback site, thinking cap on for next week as need to make some extra money.
    18. Get an early night
I knew I had a busy day but didn't think it was so busy, Hope everyone has a good Saturday x

One MSE thing I did late yesterday afternoon was to open a "Cash Transactor" savings account with Yorkshire Building Society.

Although it's savings account, you can have wages paid into it and operate Direct Debits / Standing Orders from it. It also comes with a passbook or ATM card option. Importantly, it does NOT come with a debit card.

This way, I'll use the account purely for Bills and not having a debit card means any non-bills / personal spending money (if there is any!...:rotfl:) can be put in my Co-op Cashminder account, which does have a debit card, keeping monthly bills and personal spending cash totally separate.

At present, my monthly budget sometimes goes awry due to "leakages" - small debit card purchases - of money that is really meant for bills.

Hope this idea helps somebody :).

Today I packed al only eBay things that sold, bar one, I've misplaced it

Got everything sorted for tomorrow's car boot, still need to pack my lunch up. Hoping I shift a lot of stuff. What I don't shift will go on eBay in the evening :j hoping I have enough for petrol this week.

Kept an eye out on my halifax account to make sure we dont go over our £2500 overdraft as the fess per day double. We are currently 19p under  payday is Friday so not going to touch it now. We have a bit of cash in the other account, I don't have online access yet so will get husband to check it an withdraw this weeks spends.

Got £47 waiting to be cleared on pp to go into my bank, did this this afternoon :T

Had a naughty dinner though, pizza hut, but we had a 50% off code courtesy of O2 priority moments. Have to admit though, it wasn't that great. Not missed it.
