What does "Advanced" pay mean?

So I started in my job 3 months ago, I got 2 weeks holiday today, On my wage slip today I got last weeks pay, and 2 extra weeks pay as the company is closed for 2 weeks. Now I am not really their long enough to be entitled to holiday pay, and any other job I have had in the past its been called Holiday pay, not advanced pay, advance pay says to me something like a loan, that I;ll have to work 2 weeks for nothing when I go back, and before someone says it, the office closes early on Friday and we only get wage slips going out the door so can't query this for 2 weeks:(

Would suspect that if you leave before holiday entitlement has built up, they will take back the advance payment.0

I would think it means that you have been paid in advance of having done the work to be entitled as yet. However you will once back to work then build up the entitlement which you have already used. So that if you wanted to have holiday later even though you have worked more hours you won't have any holiday left. It's like getting a loan against future entitlement.Lost my soulmate so life is empty.
I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

I'm not really liking the sound of this the more I think about it, My probation period is up end of July, they could effectivly say "Right on you go" and because they paid me this money no notice pay etc.0

If the company closes down for 2 weeks then should that be classed as holiday for the employees? Do the company class this as using holiday entitlement or is it just an assumption on the part of the OP?
I read the advanced pay to be the pay due for the 2 weeks that the company is closed, as there will be nobody to process the pay in that time.

If the company have not notified you that it is a mandatory holiday with the correct timescales then it should not use any of your holiday entitlement. If they just decided to shut down for 2 weeks then they need to pay you as normalThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. It is holidays, our holidays are all set out by management at the start of the year, the company closes down for these holidays.
You are correct no one is to process pay, however I have not been their long enough to be entitled to Holiday pay, well not all of it, maybe a couple of days not 100 -
The OP has previously said that the company fix the holiday entitlement to workplace closures, so this would be holiday. He hasn't accrued enough holiday to be entitled to two weeks leave, so assuming he has been paid his normal wage for the two weeks, then he has obviously been "advanced" some holiday.
So yes Falko, assuming this is the case then if the job terminates and you owe them holiday pay back, this will be deducted from any notice pay. But it's a case of either that - or you don't get paid holidays now. Either way you only get what you are due.0 -

Yes but you've already had the money so if you are that concerned, pop it in a savings account until you have accrued the holiday. If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.0 -
It sounds to me as if the holiday is sort of irrelevant. I reckon that EVERY month they probably pay 2 weeks in advance and 2 in arrears. This will affect you when you leave, but is more or less irrelevant in the mean time. You have your holiday pay at the moment (and yes, some of this would be returnable if you left before 6 months or so was up - you will 'earn' this holiday time back over the next 6m).Ex board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).0

Excellent theory though this is - falko is paid weekly! He got his weeks pay, plus the next two weeks pay "advanced" because the workplace isn't open for him to collect it.0
