We do have a car, but it's a luxury we choose to pay for. Not much of one, being worth almost nothing and ancient, but still a choice, rather than necessity. We don't, for example, use the car for supermarket shopping, school runs, or commuting.
We get around by walking, cycling, buses (cheap, £1.20 for any distance within London), trains, tubes, etc.
£1.20  my local bus company change £2.60 for a 15 min trip, one way.0 -
ours charged £4.20 for a 6 mile journey

unreal, it's cheaper to run a car these days, they have tried to make it worth while to use public transport to get us out of cars but all they have done is make a car the better and many times cheaper option.
Please don't shout it about too much otherwise they'll increase petrol to £5 a litre and road tax to £500 minimum:eek:.
Agree that public transport outside London though costs far too much and takes too long for most people."Whether you think you can, or you think you can't -- you're right" - Henry Ford0 -
