Aldi vs. Lidl?

I love Aldi and am very familiar with their prices, selection and quality. However, it is in a part of town that is not as accessible to me as Lidl. I have not been to Lidl before. Is it as cheap as Aldi and is the product selection and quality as good? Is one better than the other or are they pretty much the same?

We have both Aldi and Lidl with shopping distance to us and we usually visit them both about once a fortnight. IMO, they are much the same in quality and value - both excellent.

I prefer Lidl, Aldi is too expensive and British-fied for my liking!

They are both much-of-a-muchness. Aldi seem to have more computers, sat navs etc, but food wise they're about the same. using Lidl at the mo because all fruit and veg is half-price. (Properly half-prce, not like Tesco putting it all up before they discount it!)

    I prefer Lidl

They dont throw the food down the lane faster than you can get it in your trolley like Aldi do:mad:

Also think Lidl are cheaper than Aldi

I prefer Aldi some of the food is slightly better quality and but I think Lidl's prices are better. The half price fruit and veg makes it well worth the extra mile in the car!

  • I think Aldi is slightly dearer than Lidl, but I think Aldi quality is far superior TBH. I dont think you can beat Aldi's tinned items (beans, kidney beans, toms with herbs) etc.

Lidls is great when they have their fruit and veg at half price though. I do like alot of their products, but do prefer Aldi.

Aldi and Lidl aren't the same company. Aldi is a store prevalent in other parts of europe. I think where the confusion arises is the fact that there are two Aldi's - the store was originally founded by 2 brothers who had a falling out.. and they each took half the company and went in different directions. wikipedia has more info on both stores if anyone is interested, just google for wikipedia and put in aldi or lidl.

I use both, some items better at one, others better at the other its a matter of choice. Some items same. I havent found anything bad at either, some are not to my taste, but that is always personal.
