Declaring work to the OR??

I am bankrupt, but ive been offered very random work, which means i could be working 1 or 2 days a week, then 3 weeks with no work, then another day here and there, then no work for a few weeks. Im thinking about not declaring it as it is very complicated. What will happen if i dont declare it, can the OR find out, or do you suggest i declare the work im doing even though it is random and there is no set pay rate so it's impossible for me to know how much im going to earn..

If you don't declare your work you will be breaking the terms of your BR, your OR may well find out and yes I do suggest you declare your work as and when you get any."Our prime purpose in this life is to help others. And if you can't help them, at least don't hurt them." Dalai Lama0

Her Maj's Tax Bods talk to the IS Bods and let them know how much tax was paid so they can check records. The OR can then contact you and ask for the money and worst case scenario is you could end up in jail for fraud.
Let the OR know as you get paid and they can sort things out as and when. As Pippacsays it is in the terms of your BR and you are legally obliged to inform the OR of any changes.BSCno.87The only stupid question is an unasked oneLoving life as a Kernow Hippy0 -
Hi
You def need to let OR know you also in another post say your income is JSA so you would also need to let Benefits agency know. Just not worth the risk and could land you in trouble.0 -

How can they ask for it back if I end up spending it on things they wouldn't usually allow me to spend it on. Might aswell not work then!! do you really think that they'll investigate a few grand of debt????0 -

Don a Tin hat and take cover - you will get slaughtered - I've been reading this forums history since I'm also a BR
Your best bet is to stay unemployed and just live the year out.0 -
It's not difficult to deal with:
1. Talk to your OR and explain your going to be self-employed (which is more or less what you will be, unless all work is for the same person/company).
2. Explain that it is sporadic and income will be very variable.
It is very likely that they will tell you to keep records of the work, and after three months of 'being self-employed' will want an up-to-date IPOQ (income and outgoings questionnaire). From this they will work out if there is a chance of setting up an future IPA. HOWEVER it is unlikely that you will get one, as you won't be earning enough and you will have legitimate business expenses etc... that will decrease any excess.
The bigger issue's are making sure that you are straight with the JSA and HMRC.0 -
it is difficult to deal with the OR seeing as they take 100percent after rent and food etc. It wouldn't be so bad if it was just 50percent.It's not difficult to deal with:
