Hi how long ago did this happen as it will get taken off your credit report 6 years after the event. To start again you would probably have to start small with a credit card or something with really small limit and make sure you pay it off each month on time. Maybe someone else will have more knowledge.

Hi, it is very possible (i know to get your credit rating from Very poor to Excellent in 2 years in my case. The only issues are that when I had ccj / default I could not get any meaningful credit, I did get a ccj removed as it was incorrectly issued and I had already paid it in full anyway. After this was gone I had 1 satisfied default, during this time I applied for a vanquis card / capital one classic card, both with small limts, I got 2 catalogue's and paid these faultlessly for the best part of 18 months, 6 months ago my default passed the 6 year and was deleted, I applied for a credit card and now have and excellent credit record and history, so i suppose I am telling you with careful timely applications and good payment history / never late or missed then it is possible to increase your score dramatically, unfortuantly as long as you have ccj or default you will always have a relatively poor rating.

How many credit accounts create a good credit record?

I only have a mobile phone contract at present - would this be enough to build a decent record or do I need to obtain a card or purchase something on credit terms ...
