labtec Arena 5.1's for a very good price of £9.99, have heard it at a friend's place, the sound quality is pretty decent.

Provided the tv/dvd has a built-in surround sound decoder and matching output sockets for the Labtec amplifier.

any idea if these would work with the hanspree 37 lcd tv mentioned on this board? or would we need more bits of kit.

They plug into your computer soundcard, which needs to be a surround sound card, otherwise you will only get twin channel stereo.

use can use an audio splitter, that doesnt give you true 5.1, but you get sound from all 4 satellites
