Amendment to credit file

Hi everyone,

Does anyone know how quickly a change made by a creditor to your credit file takes to show up with the reference agencies?

A creditor has kindly agreed to remove two consecutive late payment markers from my file. I am also hoping to pay off a £5,000 credit card.

I'm hoping this will dramatically improve my credit rating but I don't know how quickly to expect it to show up? I really could do with it asap as at the moment my rating is adversely affecting my ability to change my mortgage.

Thanks!

Hi there. I recently had some things changed on my file. It depends who the creditor is. They do have access to instant updates which show the next day on your file. I have known some creditors to do this but some will just add the change on their monthly updates with the various agencies, which is not always at the same time. I was advised by one creditor if this, who indicated that it would be best that I raise the query manually with the agency so that it was removed or changed quicker.

Make sure you have this arrangement in writing first though before you start raising queries.

That's great, thanks! I guess I will be looking at six weeks maximum. :j
