I have a jar of sweet mince meat and wanted to make a pie with it but just wondered and done a forum search whether something can be added to sweet mince to make it go that bit further?

Grated or sliced apple or pear would go well with it in a pie.
It can also be used as a filling for baked apples - large cooking apple, scored round the middle, core taken out and the hole filled with mincemeat, bake for half an hour or so (depending on size) and serve with custard (one apple per person)2021 - mission declutter and clean - 0/20210 -

You can add some grated raw, or pureed cooked apple and some chopped prunes to give you more mincemeat but not alter the original taste too much, It's nice mixed with stewed apple under a crumble topping flavoured with a little bit of cinnamon too.0

I concur with the rest of you grate an apple to 'bulk it out a bit.if I have a couplee of 'wrinkly ones' in the fruit bowl it helps to use them up and I also add a teaspoon of cinnamon(but then its my favourite spice ) which gives it a bit more of a spicy flavour0

my mum used to make a pie which was 50%sweet mince and 50%bramley apple. I much prefered this to mince pies.0
