We've paid the car insurance in lump sum not paying it monthly. Its just after searching price comparison websites there's lots of 'general insurance' searches. No idea why.

The late payments are unlikely to have much of an impact now, but if they were the result of fraud, albeit by a family member, you could ask for the data to be removed from the credit report. If you wanted to do this then our Victims of Fraud team would be the best place to start.

On searches, only 'credit application' search footprints can be fed into credit scoring calculations. 'Insurance quotations' do not count.

Thank you for this information Experian. I'll get her to consider getting in touch with your victims of fraud team, but I don't know what they would have to go on as all parcels were delivered to where she was living at the time (working 8 til 6 meant she was never home when parcels were delivered). What would the victims of fraud team have to go apart from the fact they were for catalogues for over 50's where she was only 21 at the time!! Any information would be gladly appreciated.

Just a quick update for all that assisted with this thread.

I've been in touch with one of the catalogue companies and they're willing to remove their records from my fiancee's credit history as long as the person who committed the fraud is willing to admit it was them. Good news, but now she needs to convince the family member to call up and admit. There is some light but not there yet.

Once that's done need to get in touch with the other company and talk nicely to them too.

I know the above is slightly off topic, but it may serve useful to anyone reading in the future. Will post further updates when applicable.
