you could try opening one with the following :
barclays, hsbc but apply for the basic accounts on which you only get a debitcard
also :
halifax/easycash account
this is a debit card with no chequebook/overdraft. cheques take 7 days to clear and cash has to be paid through a slot in the wall if under £300 and also you cannot withdraw under £300 from the counter.ONLY COPY WHAT I AM DOING IF YOU ARE 100% SURE AND YOU KNOW EXACTLY WHAT THE END RESULT MAY BE. Nationwide are very good but you just get a cashcard.

Hi, I had to open another account in September/Oct last year and found that I was not able to open a Current account but was able to open a basic account.
Mostly all the high street lenders offer basic accounts and the only hassle I really faced was that I no longer have a debit card and am supplied with a cash machine card only.
Are you applying for just a basic account?Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no. 297 - Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts0 -

Hi again, well all the high street chains should be able to offer a basic acount as long as you make clear you do just want a basic bank account with no credit facilities at all.
Have you actually tried going in branch and asking. I took the morning of work when I needed to sort mine out and found it easier than the forms and phone calls.Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no. 297 - Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts0 -
Try the hasbc. also if your hubby can give them a unrelated address like his parents home etc then he could have a current account.ONLY COPY WHAT I AM DOING IF YOU ARE 100% SURE AND YOU KNOW EXACTLY WHAT THE END RESULT MAY BE. Bailiffchaser, I am sure that OP just wants a straight forward account and doesnt want to have the hassle of tricking the bank by giving them details of a false address be itthere inlaws or not...Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no. 297 - Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts0

The Natwest have a basic bank account that gives you a Solo card and allows for DD and standing orders i think it is called the step account. If you go on their website you can apply and get a decision online. Hope that helps.Credit Card Debt
