Employment predicament

Hi Guys and Gals!

Thought I would signup and post my problem!

I am currently employed for a company at a wage of 11830 which is a 20 mile round trip each day there and back.

I have just been offered employment with a wage of 17000 but includes a 80 - 90 mile round trip each day!

My predicament is that I have a girlfriend and little girl to support and am unsure whether to take the new job offer or keep my current job.

Hope somebody can help with this problem as am beginning to become stressed!

(Above figures are before tax and NI)

Cheers

Greebs

65 miles, times the cost of fuel per mile, times 5 times 47 ish weeks. That's your yearly fuel cost.

The raise is 5k; minus tax is about 3k

So if the yearly cost of your fuel is less than 3k, and you are happy with the increased time traveling, then it's an overall payrise.
If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.

Hi guys suppose I should have gave a little more information!

My current employment I have been in for 2 years now at the same salary. I originally started on agency and after 14 months they decided to take me on full time. My contract is up for renewal at the end of this month and they have told me they will not be increasing my salary for another 6 months (decided to extend my probationary period!!!), as far as advancement goes I cannot see there being much in that department.

My fuel cost at the moment is around 170 miles to £20 of diesel but I think if I accepted the new job I would get more mileage as it is one motorway for the 90 mile round trip.

I don't mind travelling at all due to it being one stretch of motorway.

    Cheers
