Hi. We are having a celebration party and I need a dozen bottles of champagne or similar. Are there any deals on at any of the supermarkets or elsewhere?

Does it have to be Champagne? The Prosecco (sp?) in Aldi is lovely. Really nice bottle, and only £6.99 a bottle I think.Married the lovely Mr P 28th April 2012. Little P born 29th Jan 20140

Is the champagne for a toast?
I adore champagne and over the years I've got very mean with it. I just hate sharing it with people who don't like it. It makes me want to cry after a party/wedding to see loads of glasses with only a sip taken out.
What I do these days is just offer champagne as part of a 'menu' of drinks including wine, beer and soft drinks.
What does it matter if someone raises a pint in a toast? i'd rather everyone was happy including me.:D0 -
I agree maman, waste is a bad thing and catering to everyones taste is much more appreciated with the drinks as well as food0

Sorry, the Bissinger champagne at Lidl is dire. Lanson is also horrible. A good champagne should have small bubbles and as it goes flat it should still taste like a good white wine not absolutely dire.
I would agree that if the people who will be drinking it know zilch about champagne you're better off not wasting good stuff on them and buying sparkling chardonnay or Prosecco - and the Prosecco in Lidl is good enough when cold.
On the other hand giving people !!!! champagne like Bissinger and Lanson only makes them think champagne isn't worth the money and anyone who does know about champagne probably wouldn't even drink it.0 -
The cheaper Lidl Champagne (not the Bissinger) called 'Comte de Brismand' or something like that is actually quite nice. It has won lots of awards and on 'taste offs' beaten more expensive and well known brands. It's often around £14.99ish.Since starting again after beanie: June 2016: Child development DVDs, Massive Attack tickets. July: Aberystwyth trip, hotmilk nightie. Aug: £10 Hipp Organic vouchers, powerpack. September: Sunglasses. October: £30 poundland vouchers.0

At my Grandparents' Diamond Wedding party, we had some bubbly to offer (think it was Prosecco) and Dad and I went round and asked if they wanted a glass or not. If they did, we poured a glass for them. We accepted anyone to share the toast with any drink they wanted as well.
This way, we had a case of unopened Prosecco and able to return it back for a refund!0 -
This is quite a good deal, 6 bottles of Louis Chaurey champagne for £90 from M&S:
http://www.marksandspencer.com/Louis-Chaurey-Champagne-Case-6/dp/B000YRO758?ie=UTF8&ref=sr_1_3&nodeId=42966030&sr=1-3&qid=1342796571&pf_rd_r=0YCDZ4VRHJ9BFHXHRG6X&pf_rd_m=A2BO0OYVBKIQJM&pf_rd_t=301&pf_rd_i=0&pf_rd_p=215485807&pf_rd_s=center-3
And if you get 2 or more, then there is an extra 10% off:
Mix & Match any 2 Champagne or clearance wine cases and SAVE 10% off the total price for those items. Discount applies at checkout.
Cheapest item in the clearance wine is £5 for 3 mini baileys type, so you would get £9.50 discount overall:

I quite like the M&S champage, think it was this one we ordered 6 before Christmas last year and they seemed to have gone down well.0 -
