I wonder if you can WWOOF over Christmas period, in UK?

I want to do something worthwhile over this time as I get 2 weeks off work and my family aren't that bothered by the festive season.

Yes you can, but remember you are asking to join in somebody else's family during one of the few breaks they usually have together. It's not a case of a quick booking online with blocked out dates or anything, it is a case of talking to the farmers and saying 'hey can we come over Christmas?'. Most farms will be quiet over Christmas, so no work for you to do, so the reality is a freeload to be honest. Either way, you're unlikely to get much traction from a farmer you haven't already done a weekend or more with beforehand.

Not sure about Woofing but you can certainly volunteer as it is a very busy time for charities especially the likes of Salvation Army and homelessness charities. You can find more information on Timebank.

thanks for the replies (and sorry to hijack the OP's post). I already work for a charity so I would like to spend my time off doing something different to what I do normally. And I definitely wouldn't want to freeload. I'll have a look at Timebank though.

There are plenty of charities which will value the help - try Crisis at Christmas, for instance.
