Complicated tax question(s)

Person A helps out a relative with their own business whilst at university. As a favour and earns a bit of money, so cash in hand technically i suppose but its a job non the less so puts it on their CV. Done this for over a year, so dont have a recent p45.
Person A has gone to a new job, and theyve put them on BR tax code. Because its been seen as their second job, and person A didnt have a p45 to give them.
So, person A is now paying 20% tax on £100 a week for example.
Any advice on solving this ? If person A 'leaves' the job with the relative, what will happen when they do, considering they wont get a p45 to give to the new employer to change the tax code. Will person A permanently be on a BR code until the new tax year ?.
What is the best way to go about getting off this BR code ? considering the circumstances.
EDIT: Can a mod move this to the tax cutting forum. Thanks

Fill in a P46.0

Not complicated in the slightest. If you don't have a P45, you fill out a P46 to get your tax code sent to your employer. Why you don't have a P45 is irrelevant.
You do realise there is no such thing as 'technically cash in hand'. What you meant was 'evading tax'.Cash not ash from January 2nd 2011: £2565.:j
OU student: A103 , A215 , A316 all done. Currently A230 all leading to an English Literature degree.
Any advice given is as an individual, not as a representative of my firm.0
