E Bay - The Feedback System Doesn't Work

I really hate the feedback system, especially the "pressure" to leave positive feedback so as not to be neg'd back. I have to admit that I have given positive feedback even when I've not been happy but have recently started to use the neutral more. Why don't more people use the "neutral" - it doesn't harm the percentage and there is less likelihood of being neg'd back.

Why don't ebay "hold" the feedback until both parties have given it, then it would remove the "who leaves it first" argument and remove the likelihood of retaliation. I am sure it would be very simple to program it so that the first feedback is hidden until the second is made, then both are released.

I would also like to see a "five" score system of excellent, good, neutral, unsatisfactory and poor which would encourage more honest reporting of experience - I think Amazon run a system like this.

Yeah WHA Amazon do have a system just like that, and I have never really thought about it, but it probably is better than eBays system of just three ratings. Infact, here is what the eBay feedback really means:

iconPos_16x16.gifPOSITIVE:I am leaving this as I want a positive in return
iconNeu_16x16.gifNEUTRAL: This should be a negative, but I am too scared to leave one
iconNeg_16x16.gifNEGATIVE: My experience was terrible, and now I am condemed to a negative (probably a big fat lie) in return

It really does suck doesnt it? I am the same as everyone else. I simply dont leave negatives. Then again, I havent had to for aggges! I am going to get 3 lots of FVF credits tonight, and I think I might neg them all!! But at the same time, if I get 3 back from them, that would look terrible.

More does need to be done in order to make feedback have a better reflection of a buyer / seller. Retaliation feedback is just ridiculous. I guess the only comeback is to follow up feedback, with a professional attitude - which is not always easy!
