How to attach a pocket watch?!

Hope someone can help! I've bought my fiance this watch as a surprise present for our wedding.

But I can't figure out how it attaches, and I guess he won't know either! He's wearing a waistcoat and my guess is that the bit on the end has to somehow attach to a buttonhole? But why are there two prongs?
I'm baffled! Starting to get a bit worried so if anyone can explain I'd be very grateful. Have Googled but to no avail...

The 2 prongs are a sort of flat hook/clip, the cylinder is so it rolls on and clips to a button on the waistcoat before you button it.The truth may be out there, but the lies are inside your head. Terry Pratchett

It looks like a belt clip or a clip to go in a button hole to my untrained eye0

Looks like that to me as well. These attachments are used for carrying watches in trouser pockets. The ones worn in a waistcoat often have a small ring sewn inside one pocket to attach the lobster claw type hook on one side if using a double Albert chain, or just attached to a button hole with a T bar for a single chain.Truth always poses doubts & questions. Only lies are 100% believable, because they don't need to justify reality. - Carlos Ruiz Zafon, The Labyrinth of the Spirits0 -
You can clip it to a belt, but with a waistcoat you clip it horizontally behind the waistcoat fabric and over a button before fastening it(sorry I did not describe it well before). The truth may be out there, but the lies are inside your head. Terry Pratchett

Thanks for your replies. I will have to try again when I get home using these tips and see if it makes more sense! :-)0
