Hello I am looking into booking my photography for my wedding in May. I have come across a company called Big Day Productions. Has anyone used there service before or had any dealings with them?

reviews look good but it looks like a management company so they send out X photographer to you which means it could be really hit and miss depending on which photographer you get
none of the galleries have a full wedding on they are all 'a selection' of shots - if you take enough pics you should get a good one every now and then just on luck
i would be wary tbhThe only people I have to answer to are my beautiful babies aged 8 and 50 -
Hi :j
I've just been looking at this company for my wedding, mostly because of the amazingly cheap prices which did make me a little wary.
The reviews say that you get to meet someone before you book it but whether or not that is the photographer you'll get I don't know.
Let me know if you find anything out and I'll do the sameI'm currently waiting for an email back from them to answer my many questions so I'll post if there's anything useful in it

Thanks for the help!0

Ref comments below - did anyone find out about Big Day Productions? I can find various info on them but it seems sketchy. Why do they want all the money before photos are delivered - that's a risky purchase!
Any info appreciated.

They don't seem to have a postal address nor a landline which is a bit scary!
Maybe look at https://www.sub500.co.uk or https://www.paywhatyoulike.co.uk and tell them what your budget is.
I hope it works out for you0 -
As others have said, they don't personally shoot your wedding but they contract it out to a local photographer and take a cut.
I wouldn't touch them since you ultimately will have no idea of the skill of your photographer, nor their style.
Money up front is an industry standard. Usually 2-4 weeks before the date of your wedding. It's very unusual to pay after the wedding.
I assume you'll be paying in full for your venue, flowers, dress etc. Your photographer should be treated no differently.0 -
Your photographer plays such an important of your day as it is what you will be looking back at for years to come. Don't run the risk. If it sounds too good to be true, it usually is.
Photographers don't come cheap for many reasons, it's a specialised service they are providing, they have £1000s of equipment, it is more than just one days work, despite what we all think. A good photographer should make you feel ease behind the camera, capture the atmosphere of the day, as well as get those essential shots that you requested.
Always ensure you see some of their previous work. Are they a traditional photographer or do they take shots which show you a journey through your day? What would you prefer? Do you want shots of the bride getting ready? What time do you want them to finish? Do you want an album? All important questions for you to consider.Debt free other than a mortgage but still always wanting to save money :j.
Busy saving for my wedding July 2014.

Hi everyone,
Big Day Productions asked us to post on their behalf. MSE does not endorse anything posted by companies in the forum.
Hello Everybody,
My name's Josh and I am the owner of Big Day Productions.
We saw this thread and thought it would be good to clear a few things up to give people the peace of mind that they need.
I can see a question that raises the point that you won't know who's going to be capturing your day, I'd just like to point out that this is not the case, and if you do wish to view the gallery of the photographer that would be with you on your Wedding Day prior to booking your photography with us, we will be more than happy to provide this information to you so that you can decide for yourself if our service is right for you.
It was also mentioned that we don’t personally shoot your Wedding, to clear this up we’d just like to point out that we have spent a lot of time and effort into building our brand, our team of photographers are based throughout the UK, they use only high end camera bodies and equipment along with backup equipment in the unlikely event of any technical problems. Our photographers are professionals within the industry with years of experience and we make sure that this is always the case so that you are able to rely on our service, and know that if you book your photography with us, you’ll not be disappointed.
As somebody has already mentioned, we have great reviews on our Website/Facebook page so you should feel confident in our service. If you do have any questions at all regarding any aspect of our service, we would be more than happy to answer these for you as best as we can so that you are able to make an informed decision.
