Stop Smoking Hypnotherapy??

Hi all,

After 20 years and several attempts, I am so ready to stop smoking. I want to look at hypnotherapy. Does anyone have any personal reccomendations in the Hatfield/Hertfordshire area for a therapist?

Thanks

I have my doubts wether hypnotherapy actually works, a few people who've mentioned to me they've used hypnotherapy say it appears to work only for a while. The studies however are inconclusive.

You might want to contact the British Hypnotherapy Association if you do decide to go a head with a course of therapy. Tel: 020 8942 3988 / 020 8579 5533.

    Or speak to your GP.

Or you could try Dr. Zoe D. Katze, Ph.D., C.Ht. :p

I gave up years ago with hypnotherapy and definately recommend it. Unfortunately I started again many years later after a nasty break up but when I am ready to quit again, I will definately use hypno :)

    Go for it.

I used Tania Cheslaw in Cambridge - she was fantastic. http://www.taniacheslaw.co.uk/index.htm

I lost a lot of weight through hypnotherapy but when I stopped smoking I attended the Stop Smoking clinic at local hospital. They gave patches, arranged weekly meetings for 6 weeks or so and paired you up with another attendee to contact for support in between. I was smoking 40 a day. that was back in 1994 and I haven't smoked since. On the other hand, my weight has been up & down so much I am now type2 diabetic.

I smoked 30 cigs aday for 31 yrs....:eek:. I tried so many times with drs surgery group sessions, 3 sessions hypnotherapy, tablets, chewing gum, but none of it worked for me..........

Then I saw on internet a stop smoking organisation that says they will guarantee that you will never smoke again after you visit them, so I thought right I will give it a go, I told the man what Id tried in the past and that I dont think he will cure me, and he said that they offer a life time guarantee and if at anytime I go back to smoking they will give me more sessions of hypno....free of charge.....

So I went for it 6 yrs ago this October and Ive never smoked since:T:T.......So yea it worked form me, it cost me £180 back then in 2006, it was the best money ive ever spent, only trouble is ive put a bit of weight on by not smoking, but ive saved a fortune not buying fags.........Go for it.....................Good luck..

My g/f had it done and stopped for 6 months or so, she ahs very little will power so did appear to work. However shes not too head strong (sorry honey) so could imagine hypno would work easier on someone like her (ie believes in hypnotherapy).

Im very sceptical with hypno, id sit in the chair thinking 'this is bs, this is bs, this is bs' so dont think i would 'allow' anything to happen iykwim?!?

Good luck though if you go ahead!

I just stopped smoking at once. It's very easy. The only reason you think it is hard is that people keep on telling you it is , just believe in yourself. Don't buy fags, don't take one if offered. You must become a non-smoker, not an ex-smoker. . . .
