What does about mean? Do you not know the gross salary?

Should be about £1,509.93 if you are on tax code 820L

Would they be deducting anything else off you like pension , union, student lon? BR rate also?

Looks like more tax to me, and not enough for BR

On my basic 18 hour post (similar money as ^^) I get £1240 a month but that is after pension.

hi, yes sorry i checked my paper work and my salary is exactly £22,920.

i have signed up for pension, but i have opted for them to start deducting it in September of this year..

Student loan is another possibility, but would they have taken this much in my first pay?

id like to add that i didnt hand in a p45, as my previous job was also within the same Borough council....but i remember filling out the p46 or p60..(my memory is very rusty as i accepted the job & filled in all paperwork early this year February, but only start last month due to long times for the damned crb checks )

Argh - Then I go with BR and no pension. As most LG schemes have the LG pension.

Did you work a full pay month or was it a little more or less? As that with BR tax could explain it?
Don't listen to me, I'm no expert!
  • Did you start on the 1st of the Month or were you paid a part Month? It is possible to deduct student loan from your first pay as there is a box for it on P45 and P46.
Did you receive pay from your other job in the same period, although you work for the same Council could be different PAYE ref. There are many senarios to this so you need to get your payslip to accurately check.
