Buying Beds from Online stores
Options
Hi I'm based in South East London, looking to buy bed/s Sealy, Silentnight etc, have been to Dreams, Sleepright and Alders its sometimes dificulty to compare the beds as they have there own names for the beds they have, to cut a long story short, has anyone used/recommend online retailers/websites (not the high streets websites) to buy beds from, what are your experiences.

Hi,
I have used Warren Evans twice now for my sons beds and have been really pleased with their service. I live in Hampshire but I believe they have shops in the London area.
Delivery was efficient to us and the beds were assembled where we wanted them by the delivery people.
They tend to have sale prices in January and February so keep an eye out for those times.
I think you can also get some cashback going through quidco.
Hope this helps0 -
I have used thedivancentre.co.uk we bought a large divan bed with a memory foam top, we are both very happy with it. Delivery was excellent, not always so in the Westcountry & the delivery people were very helpful.0

I would say make sure that the vendor's delivery infrastructure is to your liking. Unfortunately, the vendors are often less than entirely transparent in this regard.
For example, I used b edlum-beds.co.uk which I discovered through the owner's posts on this very forum (Tim Deegan). I was very happy with the price (and the mattress, when I finally received it) but their website IMO doesn't make it sufficiently clear that you have to wait until they have <x> number of deliveries in your area before they feel they can justify the expense of delivering the product you have paid for, nor how long you might expect to wait if the first van is swinging through your region at a time that doesn't suit you.
In my case I had to attend a funeral during the first slot they offered (weeks after I originally placed my order, but only days' notice on their side) and they couldn't predict how long it would be until they got sufficient orders to justify their mileage for a subsequent trip. I therefore had to wait an unspecified additional amount of time which wound up being many weeks. Also, they initially implied (though did not follow through) that they would charge me a second time for delivery unless they could leave the item with a neighbour on their first pass, an option I declined as it was impractical at short notice for an item as large as a super king size mattress.
The lesson is that whilst one wouldn't expect the smaller operators to have quite the same infrastructure behind them as the big boys, you might be surprised at how shoestring some of the less visible aspects of their operations turn out to be. Had I known at the outset I would never have ordered through them.
As my existing mattress was fine (I was just looking to move up to a bigger size) the waiting game wasn't particularly serious, just incredibly annoying. And, in the end, I did receive a fine mattress at what I believe to be a good price. If you're not too fussed about when the product reaches you, they're a good choice but I would advise anyone in need of a new mattress to sleep on in a reasonable timeframe to steer well clear.0
