Rubbish bins in Belfast

Hi Folks,
I bought a house in east Belfast last year and live there, although go to Portstewart nearly every weekend and as a result of this pattern I can't help but notice the amount of litter on the streets here in Belfast. Is there any way that the council would consider putting extra rubbish bins in 3 or 4 different locations if I was to mention this to a DUP or Alliance Party member, or something? I notice that there are many bins close to one another, yet on the other side of the street, for example, you may not find another one closer than, say, 500 metres from the next. I would love to see the area clean itself up a bit as I walk to and fro work and it really does get on my wick, seeing all the rubbish and what have you. It would also be good if someone was emplyed to remove weeds and dead shrubs from sides of buildings, too.
Has anyone any thoughts on the matter at all ?
All the best, folks

Personally I would walk to a bin to deposit my rubbish or take it home with me. I don't think the problem is that there aren't enough bins, more that so many people are too lazy to walk the length of themselves to put stuff in a bin. So many times I have seen people throw rubbish on the ground when they are standing right next to a bin. Brainless!
And then there was the time that I watched someone repeatedly throw rubbish out of their car window whilst in a queue of traffic. I rewarded them for their laziness by getting out of my car, picking up the rubbish, popping it back through their open car window with a polite 'I believe you dropped something'. :rotfl:Norn Iron Club Member 3300 -
A few weeks ago I was walking to Fitness First at Connswater and witnessed a car containing two males. The person in the driving seat wound down his window and threw KFC bags loaded with rubbish out of his window and onto the virtually desserted car park. Absolutely incredible....0

you need the litter wardens in .As for getting in the DUP or alliance I wouldnt bother .I would get sinn fein or the SDLP .Now you think I am not wise ,but the DUP and alliance have nothing to loose by doing nothing for you , The SDLP and Sinn fein have everything to gain by doing something for you ,therefore they have an incentive and you get your bins."Do not regret growing older, it's a privilege denied to many"0

I seriously cannot understand people who drop litter- like what even goes on in their head ?- not much probably.
I think the problem here is that no-one appears to have any respect for their country anymore- belfast in particular0
